Miri Country Music Festival #MCMF 2017 launches on a Higher Strum

The fourth annual Miri Country Music Festival (MCMF) officially started yesterday and will be a two day festival ending tonight with a concert of performances by renowned country music bands.

Assistant Minister of Tourism and Assistant Minister for Land and Air Transportation and Safety Datuk Lee Kim Shin officialy launched the event. Also present during the officiation were, General Manager of Park City Everly Hotel Andrew Law, Artistic Director of MCMF Asif Pishori and Malaysia Major Events General Manager Tony Nagamaiah. Malaysia Major Events is a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau, an agency under The Misnistry of Tourism & Culture Malaysia.

Performers during the festival include international bands Shane Smith and the Saints (USA), James Thomson and the Strange Pilgrims (Australia), The Casual Celeidh Band (Brunei-based European band) as well as popular Malaysian bands Country Road (Miri), Adi Wow and Maha (Sabah), Russel Curtis (Kuala Lumpur) and Raggy Project (Penang).

The annual country and western music festival is touted as the only one of its kind in Malaysia and has grown in popularity since its first began in 2014. It is held outdoor at Parkcity Everly Hotel, with the beautiful Brighton Beach as the festival's backdrop. MCMF has expanded from one day to two days for the first time this year and both days are filled with activities for the whole family to enjoy.

There are music and dance workshops, night performances by the bands, bazaar of vendors selling food, beverage and unique ethnic merchandise, game booths, a barbecue cookout and lucky draw prizes to be won throughout both days. The grand lucky draw prize happening tonight is two Qatar Airways return tickets to Doha. MCMF this weekend expects as estimated turnout of 4000 festival-goers, with walk-in tickets readily available at the venue today for the event finale.
